"my guess this is partly about finance and big projects. ie they need solid cashflow to tickle the bankers up. Right now they have great assets but are hard pushed to show they can pay interest. That all changes with the potential oil dollars they are expecting.

This will allow them to contemplate loan capital for their various large scale projects and provide cash flow for expansion thereby reducing the need to sell assets(other than non-strategic)."

that being true, it probably makes MPO more attractive now.
