So after the merger is completed, I am super confused about how I disclose tax wise for this financial year about to end. I have received USD $7743.00 equivalent to AUD $10,194.56 for my 2900 WFD shares.
I have also received 1060 URW shares.
I have also received 145 OMN shares.
Now how do I declare these things.
I originally bought WFD shares at the following prices:
500 shares for AUD$ 10.02 each on 6/9/16 totalling AUD $5010
510 shares for AUD$ 9.80 each on 9/9/16 totalling AUD $4998
600 shares for AUD$ 7.75 each on 12/7/17 totalling AUD $4650
1290 shares for AUD$ 7.78 each on 25/10/17 totalling AUD $10,036.20
Or total 2900 shares for AUD $24,694.20 all excluding brokerage (around AUD $19.95 per transaction)
How do I determine the tax I pay on it?
Is it a capital loss of (AUD $24694.20 + [brokerage]) - AUD $10,194.56?
= Capital loss of AUD $14.499.64 + brokerage?
Then when I do sell my URW and OMN shares, is it then equal to 100% capital gain?
Anyone able to enlighten me, I would be very grateful.
Cheers.
