Just one thing I think you are missing. What do you want when you have massive debt? fixed interest rate and massive inflation. I think this is the ultimate plan for the US and how they hope to solve 'their' problem. It will take a while but eveything should be much clearer in a few years time.
BHP will still be around and should be much stronger by this time.
