I emailed this to QBE investor relations two months ago:
In spite of the board's performance in recent years, it is displeasing to note that directors have been rewarded with greater pay. In particular that of non-executive directors, whose responsibility it is to provide effective oversight over executive management. The chairman's remuneration increased from $561,000 in 2010 to $647,000 in 2011, and to $667,000 in 2012. Remuneration of non-executive directors increased from $177,000 in 2010 to $203,000 in 2011, and to $209,000 in 2012.
Remember these non-executive directors do not work full time for QBE; hence their title "Non-executive". Somebody on anothe thread said the workers at SPC earning 50-60k a year were on a good wicket. I'd say the non-executive, non-performing directors of QBE are on a golden wicket.
And yes, I am going to vote against director's remuneration report.
