By plucking an aboriginal candidate from relative political obscurity and dropping her into a Senate seat Gillard has shown contempt to all aboriginal members of the Labor party. What is the point in joining the party and paying your dues when celebrity candidates who aren’t even members of any political party are simply leapfrogged ahead of you?
The only reason Peris was picked was her racial heritage ... and by definition, the only reason Trish Crossin was knifed was for her lack of heritage. I find that offensive.
