re: gold aus v row, you're just dealing with Forex, so do what's easiest for you. I tend to use RRL as a proxy given it's correlation is as good as you can get and then compare to other goldies. (depends on hedging/forex etc)...

Now to add some value, UBS provided top picks by commodity for next 12 months. I tend to agree with U being high on the list.
Zinc maybe the year after, but have some early explorer exposure on the books, lead seems to be a recurring theme between investment banks, but none for me.
Graphite story fascinates me, once I understand it fully, I'll make a decision.
