I am not sure where u get your information from but the 2006 annual report records 1268 kt of Cu sold @ 229 USc/lb . After you do the conversions to lbs,this translates to $6.5 billion in Cu sales out of total turnover of just over 39 billion. I make this 16.6% of BHP turnover.
By BHPs own admission a change of 1US cent in the price of Cu (all else being equal) tranlates into a $20M change in EBIT.
So Cu very important for BHP.
