ASX continuous disclosure rules only permit announcements to be made in other countries outside AU market hours if the entity is dual listed.
So if Centro was listed on the NYSE, it could be done there tonight, otherwise they have to do it here first.
I think there are some CNP shares traded on the Frankfurt exchange (I'm still unsure if these are shares or ADR-type securities), so I guess in theory it could be announced there overnight. I just don't think it's going to happen.
Although the assets are US based, the ultimate ownership is Australian. I'm sure the yanks are going to be interested, but at the end of the day most of the ownership is here.
