While VCR struggles through the trial stage the market matures with well established major products like Novacor's Heartmate and the star Abiomed which even has a total replacement heart.
Remember that VCR has one unlicensed left ventricle assist device while there are installed and licensed biventricular devices saving lives.
Sort of like inventing an Australian backyard car to take on Ford.
    Here's the Abiomed latest:

DANVERS, Mass., Dec. 09 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ABIOMED, Inc. (Nasdaq: ABMD - News) a manufacturer of products for circulatory care and support, today announced the launch of a new education and service program designed to promote heart recovery. The program combines clinical training, web-based education, process improvement, and field service.
"By providing clinical support and education on best practices including early implantation, time on support, and reducing bleeding, we can help our hospitals improve outcomes," said Michael R. Minogue, CEO and President of ABIOMED. "Our goal is to give our customers the tools they need to help acute patients recover and go home with their own hearts."

The program includes web-based learning module developed by eTrinsic that will enable clinical teams to be trained on the AB5000 and BVS 5000 using an interactive course that simulates the clinical experience. The course will also share the techniques and practices that have been shown to promote survival and recovery at ABIOMED's top centers. For instance, at the top 20% of centers in the company's installed base, the survival rate for patients implanted with ABIOMED's Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs) is greater than 50%.(1)

The courses are accredited and healthcare providers that successfully complete the modules are eligible to receive continuing education credits. Additional clinical modules on ABIOMED's products and a general program designed to educate patients and families will be available in the near future.

In addition, ABIOMED is offering its service program customers an on-site productivity and best practices consult, a reimbursement kit, and a media and marketing kit. The media and marketing kit will provide hospitals with the tools necessary to educate audiences including referring cardiologists, VAD coordinators, patients, families, and health reporters on the addition of this life-saving technology. The Best Practices consult will include an analysis of both clinical and administrative practices, and offer solutions to optimize reimbursement, improve processes and enhance patient outcomes.
