"Presumably they don't have to wait until the mining lease is granted before beginning construction of the plant ??"

Hi Scanspeak ! I doubt they can install the plant or do anything other than exploratory drilling prior to the M.L being issued, that's whey they had to use drill cores for the bulk tests rather than just send the excavators down and scoop a few hundred ton of ore up from the Jewelry box !.

Hi Charlie ! I recently spoke to DERM and the process after the EIS report is finalised is a bit more complex than we think ! ?

Summary below ! please dont shoot me for slight inaccuracies as I didn't record the conversation.

I asked when the EIS notice will be issued as their website was still showing 29th of April as respond to Submission stage. I was told they are currently finalising their report. I mentioned that I had read the Exco report and asked would CDU be similar ? I was told yes ! The time line suggested would be Mid to end of July ?.DERM said they have been working with the company to make changes to their EMP ( Enviro management plan ) which is the next step.

I asked why its taken over a year since Exco had their EIS approved yet still dont have a mining licence ! Exco have after numerous changes still have not got their EMP to the point where DERM are happy to allow them to move to the next stage which is the E.A notice Yep before we get to the Mining Tenure notice there has to be an E.A notice ( Enviro Authority application of mining tenure ) This is another 21 ( business days ) period that any affected land owners can make an application to the land court to object to the issue of the mining tenure. ( I hope Wayne has all the Cow Cockies on side ) If there are no objections to the E.A the mining tenure application goes off to the Mines Minister depart. There is then yet another final notice issued in the paper and after another 20 business days Wayne can start digging.

So how long is a piece of string I asked ? I said if the EIS notice is approved by the end of July and Cudeco implement all the changes into their EMP to DERMs satisfaction and there are no objections to the E.A notice would be have mining tenure approval before Xmas ? I was told that would be possible- Obviously it could take considerably longer if there are objections challenged in the land court
