re: lemur:atomimbicilicus::what the world thinks The trouble with historical revisionists is they dont know their history to start with..
The reason the US didnt enter the war earlier was EXACTLY because of the same people who now scream long and loud about the "aggression" in Afghanistan and Iraq.........the pacifists, isolationists and left wing dropkicks..
The same thing the HC pro Iraqi goons applaud today.
A 1937 galliup poll came back with 94% " keep out of European problems" result.
Read FDR's speech" The Hand that Held the Dagger" , made 9 months after Poland fell and a full 18 months before Pearl Harbour...
Let me highlight a paragraph:
"Some indeed still hold to the now somewhat obvious delusion that we of the United States can safely permit the United States to become a lone island, a lone island in a world dominated by the philosophy of force.
Such an island may be the dream of those who still talk and vote as isolationists. Such an island represents to me and to the overwhelming majority of Americans today a helpless nightmare, the helpless nightmare of a people without freedom. Yes, the nightmare of a people lodged in prison, handcuffed, hungry and fed through the bars from day to day by the contemptuous, unpitying masters of other continents.
It is natural also that we should ask ourselves how now we can prevent the building of that prison and the placing of ourselves in the midst of it.
Let us not hesitate-all of us-to proclaim certain truths. Overwhelmingly we, as a nation, and this applies to all the other American nations, we are convinced that military and naval victory for the gods of force and hate would endanger the institutions of democracy in the Western World-and that equally, therefore, the whole of our sympathies lie with those nations that are giving their life blood in combat against those forces"
But thanks to the peaceniks and pacifists like on this forum, well actually, theyre anti US , more than anti war , so lets not pretend an longer, the US could not enter the war, as much as FDR obviously knew what had to be done. However it took a Pearl Harbour in 1941 and a WTC 60 years later to show that pacifists historically guarantee large wars, by not removing the head of the snake early when it has the chance..
Read FDR's speech of December 1940 "The Arsenal of Democracy"..and see if you can spot yourselves get a dishonourable mention..
Pacifists certainly have a lot of blood on their hands.
Sooo....Go read your history again......lolol
