    RamPage01, yes you can upgrade between the cabinet and the home, but it is the shared fibre on the other side of the cabinet that is not upgradable and would need replacing from scratch to obtain the full benefits of an upgrade to FTTH.

    Because of the shared fibre connection, you would still end up with an inferior network, even if you upgraded the connection from the cabinet to the home.

    The various types of FTTN and pitfalls were discussed in the UK a few years ago when the UK were installing Street Cabinets.


    FTTN is an inferior product that would cost more for any future upgrade required in a relatively short period of time, and would leave us a substandard network compared with just doing the job properly.

    For the extra $15 billion over 8-10 years on the Liberal's NBN plan, it makes more sense to do the job correctly in the first place.
