I had this conversation with Etrade, they wouldnt put a trade through under $500.00, as I already had in excess of $500.00 worth of shares with the same company , they realised and admitted I could in fact buy 1 share or 10 million, as long as I was aware every transaction would be charged, so whoever is telling you that $500.00 is the minimum let them know you already own X amount and are just topping up
