The taxi cos. have done this but where they are failing is that the "new" guys tie in the customers credit card with the app. So the customer has no choice but to pay the at present 7.5% surcharge to the app. co. (which they are quite happy to do as CAB is still charging 10%).
They will still undercut CAB when the cap on the surcharge at 5% is introduced. The ones who will be most affected are the drivers who at present get about 3% from the app. cos. as their cut - this will decrease.
