These people get desperate because times are hard. Some may even have a drug problem and need to feed it fast, you just never know.
I don't know how we can stop this. If this continues it will eventually be exposed across the board and there will be some sacrificial lambs slaughtered. I'm certain that the Boards of such large brokerages would be very harsh on their Chief of Securities, should it be brought to their attention.
BECAUSE ONCE TRUST IS GONE REGARDING MONEY OR THE STABILITY OF A TRADING PLATFORM, THE BUSINESS IS GONE. AND SOME OF THESE LARGE SECURITIES/BROKERAGE FIRMS GAIN THE BULK OF REVENUE FROM THIS ARM. THIS IS VERY SERIOUS.
