MM there are peak bodies for older people, disabled people etc.
What makes politicians listen is the prospect of being voted out. So far, older voters have a more conservative profile, and even vote against their own interests out of fear of what the other side will do to them.
Until this changes, and the retired boomers who might be more progressive in their thinking get into the peak bodies, nothing will change.
They can't compete in terms of political donations, but if they can demonstrate they can vote as a bloc, and vote other than conservative, you will get their attention. Otherwise, pensionsers and the elderly are just a taken for granted rusted on mob of conservative voters.
