For Thorium the worst exposure is Dust.  This gets stuck in the lungs.   Though Alpha waves cannotpenetrate even a piece of paper or dead skin the velocity make it verydisruptive to living tissue DNA.  Short term Alpha exposure like withRadon gas does not do much damage. With Radon it take long term exposure. With dust if it is lodge in the lungs it can sit there and continually bombardthe nearby cells for years.  This causes a very high probability forcancer.   Another bad thing is if you get it in a cut and it healsover, again continuous exposure.    Google Malaysia, Mitsubishi and Thorium Read about the many ways Malaysians got cancer from the Mitsubishi REO plant.   I do not think there is any comparison between what Lynas is doing and Mitsubishi did.   But I do understand the legitimate fears of some of the people.  When they hear REO & Codicil all linked together.    When you watch your parents die of cancer over several years from  Codicil coming out of a REO plant it is pretty hard to believe the Lynas product is safe. I believe Lynas Codicil is safe but I also get why some have a very hard time with this.   The half-life of Thorium is 14 billion years so once it is lodged somewhere in your system its intensity does not diminish with time.
