Wait 5 months or pay an extra $67 million? I would only choose the later if I was convinced a competitor was going to trump my bid. Although I like GXY's assets, I would hardly say the big players are falling over themselves to take them over.
If the Chinese are clever, and they have played GXY like a fiddle thus far, they'll string out their settlement as long as possible, let GXY consume cash on operational losses and debt costs, and then launch a takeover towards the end of 2014.
