The digital imaging IMO still only refers to taking an image/picture of the culture, and then it is interpreted by a technician. APAS is way ahead of any competitor as it actually INTERPRETS the agar plate.
I also like the below point from the article which the INCUBOT version of the machine will cater for. The idea being that the front end of the machine at the end of the workflow/day loaded with agar plates, they are then incubated(given time to grow) which are then automatically fed into the APAS and interpreted
