You have to ride the business cycles and take the occasional hits.
But in good times and bad, an airline is an airline, a brewery is a brewery, an oil field is an oil field, a hospital is a hospital ......
There will always be economic activity of sorts and the 'system' will always see that investment will continue to happen and the march toward improving global living standards will continue.
Even in my adult life I have experienced both recessions and bear markets.

And even if we experience a 1930's type depression (I can only imagine what that might have been like from what my grandfather told me) life will still be worth living.
