I try and be a realist. I also take profits on the way up and use these to diversify into other stocks or pay off debt.

The specs I buy aren't super speccy - I like smaller stocks producing or soon to produce. Most of these companies tend to have some blue sky potential as well. I favour zinc stocks at the moment but will probably sell the majority of these stocks if the fundamentals change.

I haven't bought too many stocks of late apart from a couple of short termers because there is less value in my mind currently. I'm also wary of the US economic situation. I'm also experimenting with shorting stocks in case the market has a serious correction.

So I try and make hay while the sun shines. I'm no full time trader so I work a couple of days a week and make a bit of cash playing poker.
