absurd.. generally speaking and throughout history there has been protest
Protest has never been about 'rioting' .. I think that's the fault line here
The police in a democracy have a responsibility to facilitate peaceful protest and to prosecute unlawful or unsocial behaviour
Just because a citizen walks down the street with a gun does not somewhow 'qualify' him to discharge the law .. yet this man could take the law into his own hands and kill someone
But on the other hand how much of the 'law' can be broken by an unarmed man with a big mouth.. property, theft, public nuisance etc etc no one gets killed right ?
In Australia when police arrive to question an individual about let's say the theft of a car.. Do you think they have weapons out, safety off clips loaded etc etc.. no they don't
So why would it ever ever be conceivable to think it would be acceptable for a citizen, to take the law into their own hands, arm up, load up and go walking the streets hunting people for property damage ?
RW vigilantes are consumed and obsessed with creating threats to their person and their property and it is dressed up as 'values' but can easily be deconstructed into 'values aligned with self interest' ..
