Minister for Natural Resources and Mines and Energy
Stephen Robertson said it was "regrettable" Cougar had
terminated staff "before" the environmental evaluation
process was completed.
Now that is the most offensive statement I've heard in this whole farce.
What's REGRETTABLE, Minister, is that you, for the sake of a few votes, made a blatantly incorrect and unfair decision against a pioneering junior company that was at the tipping point of success or failure.
YOU are responsible for these job losses as well as threatening to kill a potentially world-changing technology that your state (which your government touts as the "Smart State") is pioneering in the Western world!
Your department overreacted to an incorrect test and then covered its failure by lying to the vulnerable citizens of Kingaroy that "carcinogenic groundwater" had been detected.
One last question, Minister. You say you will maintain the EPO until the safety of groundwater supplies is assured. How is it that a few HotCopper members have already managed to assure that, yet your team of experts (whose job it is to do these things) haven't managed to do the same?
