Trump stated to the Washington Post in August last year of his plan to impose a 10% universal tariff on all imports. Also last February, he stated an additional 60% to 100% tariff on imports from China.

I like tariffs as they encourage domestic production (manufacturing similar to the SYR Vidalia Active Anode Material Facility in Louisiana).

Reagan placed import quotas on Japanese car imports in the '80s to protect the Detroit car industry. Japanese car prices went up 5% - 10%, but the Japanese also built massive factories in the American South to avoid these import quotas. Within a few years, the quotas were lifted as they were not needed. Prices returned to normal and imported cars no longer flooded the market.

There's your playbook right there. There will be a heap of domestic US investment because of Trump. Money should flow to Syrah as they have the expertise to extend the supply of non-Chinese natural graphite to the US car industry. From where? From the US.

Go SYR.

How about Europe?

Well, European imports to the US are headed by motor vehicles (namely from Germany, France and Italy). Again, a 10% tariff on Euro cars will go to the US government. What will Trump do with the money? He will shore up American supply chains and domestic investment - again - good for SYR.

Trump may be pro oil, but with Musk by his side and his locally produced EVs, he ain't anti-electric either.

Syrah's place in the world was to always be the ex-China supply of graphite. SYR could and can't compete with cheap Chinese graphite. The Democrats were never going to move fast enough to create new supply chains - how long did it take to get the loan? SYR was nearly crushed before the loan.

This Trump victory is the best thing that has happened SYR, as these tariffs are going to move a lot people and investment into action.
