I read the announcement as good news.
In business, *everything* is for sale, if the price is attractive enough.
Now that they have advisers, the advisers are simply calling in all offers. They are saying, we will do this on our own terms. It's now or never.
I still think the best option is a recapitalisation / issue of more shares. Sure the current shareholders will dilute, but it will send the share price upwards by ending the uncertainty. If they issue equity, they can pour it in to exactly the right places in the holding structure. If they sell, they have to move the sale proceeds around the structure, which would take more finesse. I'm amazed you don't see the equity issue strategy discussed in the press.
I am comfortable with my Centro stake. I get even more comfortable when I look at the calibre of the posters calling CNP long, vs those calling it short. No contest.
