Reko1 is correct. At yesterday's prices CER was a bargain. I bought some back in December when it was below 60c and topped up some more yesterday. The market has gone bonkers on this one. There will be alot of interest in Centro's property assets, particularly the Australian ones which are as rare as hens teeth. However it was never going to come down to asset sales. On the one hand, Centro's complex structure makes this problematic. More importantly however is the fact that it would be cheeper to just buy the script.
I suspect Centro is now in discussions with a bidder which is the reason for the trading halt. I also wouldn't be surprised if the bidder is an overseas REIT.
