    The results show an average raw gas content of 5 m3 per tonne and a dry ash free gas content of 15 m3 per tonne.

    Mmmm... that raises alarm bells in my head.

    5 m3/t raw is a good gas content for a shallow well but if your 5 m3/t turns to 15 m3/t in a dry ash free (DAF) calculation it means your coal is extremely high ash, which has bad implications for permeability for gas and water flow.

    The ash content for this rank of coal from those numbers must be 50-60%, meaning only about 30-40% of their 'coal' is actually coal!

    I had heard that the Walloons in the Clarence-Moreton are high ash but I didn't realise it was that high.

    Hopefully MEL have some cleaner seams than ROG, or else they may struggle to produce much gas even with fraccing. In my experience, high ash means the death of permeability...
