I remember the old "Guy" buses that they used years ago. I'd catch the bus in Barrack Street, the driver sat upfront beside the engine which was open at the kerb side with a big Gardner diesel camming away at the stop belching fumes everywhere!

I would catch the only steam train that ran into the city about 7.50am in the morning from Maylands station. They eventually stopped the old loco and it was all diesel power then.
Ahhh, they were the days, just a kid with out a care in the world.
