I sympathise. In two months we lost the oven, fridge, washing machine and dishwasher.

Ended up with an LG dishwasher. Took out the extended warranty, and had the door string replaced under it with two weeks left to go. That means it has now done seven or eight years and is still going strong. The LG washing machine was total crap though (replaced with a Bosch). So maybe we are just lucky.

BUT, I wouldn't just look at the price - functionality will be high on my list for dishwashers next time around. The LG is great. The ones that piss me off are those where the cutlery has to be placed with the precision of brain surgery in a special tray.

Do not buy a Fisher and Paykel.
