The reality is that modern Ice engines are relatively quiet at 2000/3000 rpm's (running speed). The majority of noise comes from the tyre's and wind. If one stands next to a level road and listens to the difference in EV V ICE at speed, there is not a lot of difference in the volume (as far as I could tell). The real difference between the two occurs at very low speeds (circa < 10/20 kph) where the EV is somewhat quieter (as far as I could tell).
Would love to see some (on road) decibel data comparing the two - if anyone can dig up some credible readings. On account of I could be wrong due multiple marriages and my (god sent) acquired 6th sense of selective hearing.
