This industry wide material price suppression by China will bite them back big time in the near future imo

Continued manipulation of pricing, obscurity of volumes, and heavy subsidisation of Battery minerals and metals by the CCP can only result in a massive short term pricing spike accross the whole sector imo.

Yes they will probably crush the OEM car manufacturers and dominate car production in the near/mid term. But at what cost? - huge shortfalls in global material supply mid term imo.

They had better hope (I assume) that their African supply plans pan out. Is there another realistic supply option? Driving pricing below western production costs in a range of minerals/metals is a dangerous approach.

Add to this the insatiable Western greed for short profits and big oil misinformation further limiting growth it's a perfect storm.

If the US and EU gigafactories can catch up and have a real impact in the coming couple of years it will setup an input material war. Supply is just not going to be available imo.

The current behaviour of the CCP combined with institutional greed is imo one of the greatest threats to global transport electrification plans. Stifling material supply & development at this time may well setback (or even force a reduction to) global emissions goals.

It's going to be a very interesting year/couple of years in this space.

I will be holding tight and waiting for the fireworks.
