Good climate
The Murray River makes it.
Good facilties/ shops/ etc/
House prices less than Melbs
Medical services pretty good, but for serious stuff
Bendigo is about 50 minutes away with better hospital facilities
Then of course, Melbourne for the really critical things.
Worth spending a week or 3 there to get a bit of feel for it before you take such a major decision
