Sorghum harvest to start in a few weeks. That's if it ever stops raining. Had 7 inches now for Feb added onto a wet and cool summer. Not concerned so far, as it's been great, however most computer weather models have another massive rain system starting mid week for northern NSW. Water is now running off all our land, even with summer crops growing. Some worrying amounts are forecast. Lets hope it's wrong. March and April are usually dry for us, which is what we like here for summer crop harvest.

Winter crop will go into summer stubbles, and as the summer crop is not even off yet, it's hard to even think about it yet. However there is no doubt it will be going into a lot of stored soil water. Getting it dry enough to firstly get summer crops off, and then to plant might be the major problem.

With a stack of water, we would go for durum and bread wheat. One third winter crop, two thirds summer, which is the norm here.

    Cheers.
