Wacke,
I found your post really interesting - and have been doing a little research.
LionGold's move on UML is clever - very low cost of entry.
I think LionGold/Chinese have a long term view on Central Victoria and Gold. I think there will be more corporate activity to come - probably all Chinese (they have the capital and a long term view).
LionGold can sit now and wait for what unfolds - they are holding all the cards with regards to UML.
Very interesting regarding the two explorers to the north CYL and NML. UML had their chance with CYL - but decided to exit Victoria. CYL still have a first right of refusal over all of UML's Bendigo Assets.CYL's exploration seems to be well managed under Bruce Kay (ex Global Head of Exploration at Normandy and Newmont) with low overheads. NML's exploration seems to have stalled - currently with high overheads.
Only other players in the area are GBM and ORS.
GBM have just announced a new CEO and then 5% (30m shares) changed hands (last week).
ORS - are struggling to get into the black via production but have only been rewarded with their market cap down to all time lows.
I reckon something is happening in the Central Victorian Goldfields currently! It is well funded and has a long term view!
I think it worth watching all of these players. Anything could happen in this region.
