Lithium will get replaced in batteries, it lasts for two years before it needs to be recharged too much. This is great for battery makers as they can sell more, but lithium is hard to produce and it is fairly rare. We could keep sucking it out of sea water, but organisms need lithium to not go extinct.
Pyrite may make batteries that last 2000 times longer, enough of them may store energy for a city for over a year. Zinc rechargeable batteries are also coming.
Pyrite is renewable. Planet earths favorite product.
Not to say lithium will not stay expensive, it has many uses. If we keep putting it in cars though then capitalism has failed. Need to keep petrol cars for longer so economy does not tank and develop better batteries to store solar and wind.
