I would say that when that a few people are running into trouble with margin calls and the like, so they sell off there smaller companies to cover their positions...

in this case FDY has taken a bit of a beating, as was proven earlier on in the year, when the market was like this they took a record in brokerage fees, so those that hold onto their stocks will be laughing when the financials are released !
