There will be some Bayesian element to it i.e. the population that's willing to post a review is unlikely to reflect the full customer population, but be skewed more towards the disatisfied customers. (People tend to have more energy to post a review when they have a gripe.) Hence it may be better to look at things like how the number of negative reviews have changed over time, or if theres a particular new theme emerging in reviews.
