There might be some impetus from the AFR article. The FY23 report shows PVM own 82M of 546M SOI. PVM are big holders (only Guild Group is higher) and they've been invested for a number of years and buying when the share price was higher, so selling with this volume is couch change for them. But the December numbers have always been the high point for the year and 52w highs are historically hit before/after the January announcement. I'd suggest the recent demand and interest is punters getting in earlier than last year.

With the Top 20 holding 80% (and majority being cornerstone, industry and Management) there's only so much left to churn. When (not if) MDR takes off again there won't be a lot if another investment entity wants to take a position.

I was thinking the MF paid services, which I once had subscribed to. Lemmings acted in concert once a formal recco was published. Anything tech usually made it to the 'buy' list, irrespective of price or quality. Amazing what sway they had on some microcap prices. I just sold WSP into the takeover offer at 55 cents. It was a typical MF special, which kept getting recommended despite ever increasing prices. Much tech was being recommended as buys well past 10 times revenue, without sight of profits.
You had to sort through the dross, which is why I still hold MDR, but I'm underwater with a few others still.
Fortunately I did get into some crackers which outweigh the dross, but if you didn't do that you were nursing some hefty wounds.
Hopefully the next MDR quarterly will show good progress.
