thanks. Hmmm. Timber hill aka I.B.  numerous net allegations of them being allowed to naked short sell due to 'market maker' status.

The likes of you and me cannot short specs, but spec stocks regularly shorted on the ASX hence you get the mafioso price manipulation and marking of opening/closing prices.  Shorting specs is HUGELY profitable, esp when combined with algo manipulation due big price swings and illiquidity (the very reason these guys are paradoxically given the licence to be a market maker). That is why it is illegal for most but the mafioso types with retained lawyers that operate ahead of legislative change. OVR alone has been shorted 6 times in the last 9 months.  But that was the biggest and required disclosure on other reports not forthcoming due to being over 1% of the stock on issue.  All in a days work for the types operating OVR.
