I just had a couple of weeks in the Philippines where several of the Red and ex-RED shareholders met.
A terrific trip and well worth the effort to see what is happening on the ground in the Phil's.
We met with some of the local company employees that are now out of work and also some of the officials-authorities. They were all so very kind and welcoming and we learnt so much.
We also caught up with the ex-MD (GE) who introduced us to the local foods and drinks (I didn’t eat the duck embryo- the locals call it balot, but the others did, yuk, I ran from the table, see image below).
All gave a thorough run-down of the state of affairs with RED and we were given all the information we requested (which is incidentally not substantially different to what has been discussed in detail here on HC over the years). One of the ex-employees was even kind enough to give me his old basketball tunics since he has no use for them now, see image below.
What impressed me was the size and layout of the government offices and alike both in Manila and the provinces see image below; that's me in the blue suit....it was a bit hot for a suit I must admit, 90% humidity at 33 degrees C.
I’ll be visiting at least a couple more times before Christmas if anyone wants to join the group on those dates.
