Perhaps this move has something to do with Kerry Stokes taking a chunk of Iron Ore Holdings. Its perhaps reminded some that these iron ore explorers are ripe for the picking and prompted some opportunists or perhaps even the genuine buyers to move??
For example the Talbot group with its 14% and its CITIC connection. CITIC bought a chunk of Aztec and are after more resources for their Chinese government masters. The Talbot Group could be the facilitator having set a precedant with CITIC with Macarthur Coal.
Just a theory.
