The sale to Aditya Birla got Straits out of financial debt by extinguishing all liabilities and gave them some $s in their back pocket to allow them to concentrate on their other assets Whim Creek, Sebuku Coal in Indonesia and Tritton copper in NSW that got spun off as a separate company later on. Birla needed feedstock for a smelter they had built in India but where unable to complete with the Chinese on the concentrate market so needed to secure feedstock and anyone around knows paid overs for the Nifty asset. I would say Milan as MD of Straits would have had the most influence anyone can to get the operation working.... Look at time spent after this at Wiluna WMC and Geopacific and how those projects have faired or are fairing...... Treat with caution.
