I am not aware of M3 land even being purchased. We know they want it located it in Port Melbourne and NextDC is trying to work with the Victoria Treasurer to fast track land acquisition/development approvals. Comments about working with the Victoria government were made in Feb 2020 during the FY20H1 earnings call with analysts. Does anyone have an address for the M3 site or even a news article about the land purchase? i cant seem to find anything about a land purchase.
The reason NXT is successful in Melbourne is due to building M1 earlier than other competitors. if you look at Cloudscene and look at the leading Melbourne datacentre it is NXT M1. It has the most providers, network fabrics. If you look at Sydney, Equinix SY1 and SY3 are the leading datacentres.
With respect to AirTrunk and Equinix, we know that NXT is often paired with Equinix on hyperscaler contracts. All hyperscalers split a new availability zone across multiple data centers. I believe Airtrunk has contracts with Microsoft, AWS and Oracle.
