My strategy is similar - buy the bargains and hold on until its profitable - unless the dividends offer compelling value.
Trying to time a buy during the lows is difficult. Ive pulled it off 50% of the time, but it takes a lot of research and analysis. Trying to time a buy whilst reaping a good dividend, then offloading after 45 days ex dividend is even trickier...especially if sp suddenly drops...but for me the fallback is always the dividend and hold for longer.
