I bought in the IPO as part of diversification away from term deposits for the defensive portion of my portfolio. Fortunately I kept it to under 10% of that portion. I seem to recall 12 month term deposits being around 2.8% at the time and considered MXT's interest rate not being out of line with that. I've now moved it to the non-defensive part!

While I've seen markets as volatile eg. 1974, I can't recall interest securities ever collapsing so early. Usually it took several months or more for a slide in equity prices to work it's way through and often years for the mess to be sorted out. I guess fast price reaction to events is the penalty we pay for instant liquidity.
