correct me if wrong here, but I believe it doesn't matter whether one's married or not; if you're in a relationship, even if you do not live together, then some kind of compensation will be warranted if you break the relationship.
So if you have a g/f (of a few years) that lives with her folks and you live in your own home, then watch out - the vultures will come sniffing once they sense 'entitlement'. I hope I'm wrong.
