    the CFMEU problem is the culture which supports such abhorrent leadership.

    the Labor Party is founded and funded by unions because it is literally the Party of the Unions.

    all unions are therefore subscribed as members to the Labor Party - probably why the US spelling of labour was adopted - ignorance of language.

    the founding intention of the Labor Party was to give workers (union membership was very high in the lat 19C) a voice in parliament and to advocate for workers against exceedingly exploitative labour conditions in those times.

    imo they should separate themselves from the union movement but it is the raison d'être of the Party.

    so Yogi the party relies on unions subscriptions as much as the Libs rely on various corporate sponsors and wealthy people, and the Nats rely heavily on corporate mining and farming interests for their supports.

    the CFMEU is, IF the LibNats agree, undergoing a thorough process to remove the criminal element. why should members not support the Party that represents the needs of members (workers)?
