In a way you are both correct (or maybe be wrong?)
The modern turbines I have worked on, using CSG, use more than one thermodynamic cycle and are called Combined Cycle Power Plants (CCPP). The main turbine is gas driven and the waste heat is used to create steam, witch in turn drives a second turbine (on the same drivetrain by the way), much more efficient than older models that let all that wasted heat go up the stack.
IMHO there is no reason Len wouldn't be using CCPP with syngas.
In regard to how many meters we are from the grid; it is inconsequential, as the area of Kingaroy, Nanango etc. is a massive electricity production region.Lenny and crew have certainly done their homework, in every regard (IMO).
