I spent a number of years growing up living in a public housing, in an area that had more than its fair share of social issues including crime.
And sorry but I find very disgusting the attitude of some here, no doubt people who have mainly lived in their middle class comfort zone all of their shelted lives.
Yes these areas, as do just about every lower socio economic area in any city in the world, have more than their fair share of crime, social problems. But even in these areas this is still the minority of people living there. And even though some may not be high achievers and are destined to spend their lives in these types of areas, they are still decent people and should not be tainted by the actions of a minority.
Especially by people who have lived by comparison, privilegde lives.
One of the main problems with these areas, is created by governments building whole suburbs of public housing, often with more suburbs right next to them.
