Hey hotcopperinvestor, great dialogue! I wish there was sooooo much more of this on HC. It's great to have some intelligent topic-focused discussion instead of the usual nonsense!!!
Not saying for a second that the UQ work has failed to identify that CBD is active against gram +ve bacteria. However, you are probably aware that the antibacterial properties of CBD were 'discovered' as an aside to our (their - got to stop saying our!) main studies and, to date, there have been no clinical studies of the efficacy of CBD as an antibacterial compound.
The recent P2 was testing the efficacy of CBD as an anti-acne agent. IMO, this P2 was compromised as it's primary endpoint needed CBD to outperform (statistically) the vehicle (Permetrex) which ALSO APPEARS TO INCLUDE A POWERFUL ANTIMICROBIAL (alcohol). So, although CBD may hold promise as an antimircobial agent, it's hard to test this when the study design a) combines it with a known antimicrobial, and b) tests it's separation from the antimicrobial it's combined with! (Arrggghh!)
Such a stupid study design!!!!
